Tip 5 Drink more water
Drinking more water, particularly 20 minutes prior to meals, will increase satiety while reducing your capacity for unwanted calories.
Tip 4 Minimise alcohol intake
As a general rule, each standard drink will cost you about 100 calories, and that doesn't account for the fact that no one pours a standard drink at home!
Tip 3 A little bit of everything, not too much of anything
Rather than attempt the impossible, aim to have a little bit of everything in moderation, that way, you don’t have to feel like you have missed out and you still get to enjoy lots of the good stuff!
Tip 2 Put the sneakers on and balance the calorie scales
Calories in must be less than calories out if you are trying to lose weight, or at least equal to maintain your current weigt. Look for ways to burn off those extra calories by getting into the studio over Christmas. Go for a walk, jog, challenge the kids/mates to a game of back yard cricket!
Tip 1 Say NO
At the end of the day, if you want to maintain your successes of the year past, you will have to say NO, at least occasionally. No to the cream or ice cream on the Christmas pudding, NO to the second serve and No to the extra Lindt chocolate balls!! Remember, whatever goes past the lips will either end up on the hips or must be burnt off through physical activity (also, check out The 6,000 calorie Christmas)
Bonus Tip Get a re-assessment done prior to Christmas.
This way, you know exactly what damage was done and what/how much you’ll need to do to square off on any of those cheeky kilo’s that forced themselves onto your body!!
