The Problem with New Years Resolutions

2012 Resolutions

I love New Years Resolutions (NYR’s). I think they’re really funny. My personal research suggests that if you’ve made a NYR anywhere between 12.00 am on the 1st of January and 12.00 am on say, the 15th of January of any particular year, you have 83.2% less chance of sticking to it than if you made the resolution any other time of the year.

Stretch Sequence

Stretching is a fundamental element of all exercise reigimes. An effective stretch will aid the recovery process, reduce post exercise soreness and enable you to increase your frequency of exercise as a result of reduced post workout muscle trauma.

Stretching also aids in the maintnenace of supleness and flexiility which is critical for members of all ages, regardless of their fitness objectives, whether that be a young client looking for muscle hypertrophy or an older client who simply wants to maintain or increase their muscle condition.

Flexibility is essential for maintaining balance which becomes more critical as we get older and the risk of falls becomes a threat to our mobility and maintaining a healthy lifestyle with confidence.

So, regardless of your age, gender or fintess objective, you need to stretch!

All Core Principles Personal trainers integrate stretching as a fundamental part of our session, whether that be a facilitated stretch at the end of a one on one PT session or at the end of a Group PT session.

Check out our Stretch sequence below to see just how a facilitated stretch works!!

Low Intensity verses High Intensity Training: Which is best for fat loss?

Fat loss is often high on the list of reasons why people start an exercise program. While there is an abundance of information available on exercise and fat loss, like many things these days, it can be confusing to work out which approach is best. Some people swear by low intensity exercise – with long periods spent in the ‘fat burning’ zone – while others believe high intensity is best.

Core Facts

The aerobic energy system is the only system in which fat is broken down to produce energy, as fat requires oxygen to be used as a source of energy.
