Strength Training For Children

We all want our kids to participate in sport because it is good for their physical and social development. But what about the risk of injuries such as concussion, joint dislocation, muscle sprains and all the other common sport injuries?

The only way to minimize risk of injuries is to participate in strength training. In this article, we will explore the benefits of strength training for adolescents compared to sports training alone.

How often should my child participate in strength training?

Frequency of a dedicated strength training program will depend on a number of factors including timing of other physical activities your child is involved in. Typically, for effective results, we recommend two strength sessions per week when combined with other conditioning activities.

By assessing the overall mix and frequency of physical activities, our Personal Trainers will ensure your child has the appropriate rest and recovery periods between strength and sport sessions.
